The other week I was browsing through my old artwork I had done when I had been at school. I came across a project i did for my A levels, a project based on clowns. I remember getting my friends to put various clown style make up on their faces and photographing them. This one, was my favourite. So, I decided I wanted to draw it. And I really enjoyed drawing it and am very happy with it.
And a couple of close up shots.
I wanted to do a little drawing for Halloween, so after researching different characters I could possibly do from typically horror/scary/thriller films, I decided on American Psycho. Basically, I just wanted a face with blood on ;)
I was debating whether to do this drawing in colour or to do my usual monochrome but adding the red blood afterwards. I decided upon colour and I am glad I did as I was really pleased with how it turned out, much better than some of the past few colour drawings I have attempted.
So, as per, I have taken a lot of process photos of the drawing and am going to post quite a few of those process drawings, because I really am quite happy with this drawing. Might even get a frame for it.
And the finished drawing (with a couple of detailed shots too).
So, another commissioned piece, this one also slightly different from my usual adventures as once again, there is no face to focus on! I did enjoy doing it though, thought I’d find it more difficult than I did!
So I’ll post, as usual, some progress photos of the drawing as I do love a good progress shot. And I’ve taken use of the square photo option on my iPhone now, as it looks much better when the photos are all uniformed and fit nicely together on the page :)
Latest commission was something slightly different to the usual portraits I do, which was refreshing. The idea was for a massive, aged Oak tree without it’s branches so that when at the Christening it is for, the guests will use their little fingers to dip into paint and create their own “leaf” as part of the tree. Really cute idea I thought. Also gave me a chance to do some type, something that isn’t my strong point (I’m too sketchy for perfect lines!) but was rather pleased with how it turned out.
I just add to add a little birdie siting on a branch.
Okay, so I’ve more or less completed the drawing in Photoshop as it is so much easier to draw hair. And I can get the shadow and highlights to make it look good.
The first photo shows it as I last left it at the drawing stage, the second showing what I have done in photoshop. The reason they are small is because I didn’t want to post the finished (well, finished for the moment) image twice at a large size.
So, I’ve been a bit quiet recently (and not kept up with the daily doodles, oops!). This is largely down to my full time job which is rather stressful/exhausting as of late. However, I shall post some progress pictures of a drawing I have been working on of Sherlock and Dr Watson (the Cumberbatch Sherlock, and one of the best tv programmes IMO). The drawing isn’t quite finished, but I am currently debating whether to chuck into Photoshop and have a play around trying to complete it on there.
The boyfriend did mention that it looks quite interesting with the hair incomplete, but I feel that I definitely need (well, want) to finish it.
I totally didn’t miss a couple of days…
Anyways, today’s drawing is of my favourite shoes in the whole wide world (and what I live in). I have seen a number of people on Instagram recently draws Vans (full on proper drawings, not scribbles like mine) so thought I’d doodle my own.
Saw an interesting book (Urban Outfitters do some of the best books as well as awesome clothes) called 642 Things to Draw. Quite tempted to buy it really.
Was getting frustrated with a drawing I am working on at the moment, so decided to get the paint out and ended up doing some weird animal print. Literally done in about 2 minutes. Not my greatest, I admit. I am quite lousy with paint. Also, not very patient either ;)
This little doodle has given me a few ideas of some drawings I could do, so this little project is working! I just need to find the time to do some decent drawings.
A cat in a bow tie! Thought I’d do something a little different today (well, yesterday). And it’s drawn in biro, not pencil! I want to do a proper drawing in biro I’ve decided, it’d be interesting to see how it’d turn out. I did a biro portrait a few years ago but it wasn’t that great.
